Fresh Sugar Icon Lip Treatment: A Clean Beauty Cult-Favorite (Review and Swatches!)

Still not over tinted lip balms, so today, I’m reviewing Fresh Sugar Icon Lip Treatment, a tinted balm that promises hydration and a pop of color.

I used to own the shade Spice, a lovely rosy nude that unfortunately isn’t available anymore. Even though many of us prefer natural makeup for everyday looks, sometimes you just crave a bold lip, right? Having at least one bold shade on your desk feels like a beauty safety net (trust me, it’s a must-have!). And I’ve always believed red can never go wrong. It suits every skin tone!

So, I finally got my hands on the mini version of this shade from a gift set. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while to see how Fresh Sugar’s red looks in real life.

Packaging

This beauty comes in a sleek, metal twist-up tube that feels weighty and luxe in the hand. What I love most is that the tube color matches the lip balm shade inside, making it super easy to pick the one you want.

Ingredients

This lip treatment seems to focus on nourishing ingredients like sugar (as I have ever heard it usually used for lip scrub or exfoliants!) and cranberry seed oil, which is used as a natural emollient rich in vitamin A, along with antioxidants such as grape seed oil and vitamin E. However, it does contain fragrance and essential oils, which might not work well for more sensitive skin.
For the full ingredient list, it’s always good to double-check here, as formulas can change over time.

Texture, Scent & Swatch

The texture of Icon feels smooth and buttery, gliding on easily without feeling sticky. It has the same sweet lemon scent as other Fresh Sugar balms, which is light and fresh. The shade Sugar Icon is described as a classic red. But here, I’m sharing swatches on my medium neutral skin tone so you can see how it really looks!

Here’s how it looks on my hand: one swipe gives a sheer warm red with a hint of coral. When I layer it, the color turns into a brighter, more vivid warm red.

On my lips, it shows as a bright, warm red. It’s enough to add a healthy flush to my face without looking too bold, and it has a balmy finish. Since it’s a balm, it’s completely normal that it doesn’t fully cover my two-tone lips. And I really love the color. I even use it as a blush sometimes!

Final Verdict

I’m obsessed with this warm red! It’s a universal shade you can wear anytime, anywhere. As for moisture, it’s quite hydrating and lasts around 3–4 hours without drying out my lips.
If you enjoy tinted lip balms that give both hydration and a noticeable pop of color, this could be a great option. It also leans toward a more “clean beauty” approach with nourishing oils, so it feels comfortable for everyday use, even as a quick blush on the go.
At $26 per tube, it’s a bit pricey, but you can often find special discounts here. Honestly, it’s worth a try!
