Having curly hair feels like a unique gift to me. Unique because it can change moods just like a person with feelings. When it gets frizzy and stiff, it becomes completely uncontrollable. But when the air isn’t too dry (especially at night), it can suddenly become soft and easy to manage. And you know what’s even funnier? Curls absolutely hate brushes! So I only brush my hair when it’s wet. Otherwise, get ready for lion-hair mode! That’s why I like styling products like this hair cream. You only need to scrunch your hair after making sure it’s properly brushed after showering, and that’s it! Then you just let it air dry.
After realizing there are actually so many products made specifically for curly hair — from curly hair shampoos, curl creams, to styling foams — I became interested in trying them one by one. And that’s when I found this “Moroccan Curl Cream“.
Packaging
Well, on the packaging you’ll see the words Moroccan Hydrating Elastin. The brand I have here (written at the very top, so I thought it must be the brand) is Shiren Zhuangshu. It comes in a plastic pump bottle wrapped with a paper label, with a total weight of 300g.
For me, this product lasted around 5–6 months with regular daily use after washing my hair.
Ingredients
Everything written on the packaging is in Chinese, including the ingredient list. But here, you can still see a few ingredients written in the Latin alphabet inside brackets, such as:
– Argania Spinosa, a plant-based oil that comes from the kernels of the argan tree, provides increased volume, softness, and shine. It can also be used as a daily hair treatment to keep frizz under control.
– Polygonum Multiflorum, is a traditional Chinese herb widely used to promote hair growth.
Texture, Scent, and Results
The texture of this Moroccan Hydrating Elastin cream is creamy, lightweight, and non-sticky. I’ve used several hair creams before, and even a long time after washing my hands (or when my hands accidentally touched water), they would become extremely slippery, and some products even foamed slightly. But I didn’t experience that with this product.
As for the scent, to me it smells a little like soft Chinese incense, like a blend of traditional wood, spices, and sweet floral notes, while still feeling calming. The fragrance only lasts around 1–2 hours, though.
These are the results right after application when my hair was still half-wet (after showering), and then the results again after 5 hours.
Final Verdict
So, does it really hold curls? For my curly, frizzy hair that tends to be dry throughout the strands, I feel like this product doesn’t really help much with curl hold. After only a few hours, my hair becomes frizzy again. Maybe because the texture is quite lightweight, the wet-look effect doesn’t last very well on my hair.
The scent feels refreshing and calming, but unfortunately it doesn’t last long either, which is also one of the reasons why I would reconsider repurchasing it.
If you have curly, frizzy, and dry hair like mine, I don’t think you should expect too much from this product. But if you don’t really mind the curl hold performance and enjoy collecting curl creams with calming woody scents, you might still want to try this one.
